The Bernards School Board candidate forum is scheduled for October 7


BASKING RIDGE, NJ – Meet the candidates from the Bernards Township School Board at a forum on October 7th.

The League of Voters and the students of Ridge High School invite the public to the in-person forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ridge Performing Arts Center.

Residents can meet with candidates at this moderated question-and-answer session, learn about their plans for Bernards Township schools, and get their questions answered ahead of the next school board election.

The candidates’ forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Residents who cannot attend the event can live stream the event using a link that will be posted on the district home page on the evening of the event. Instructions for virtual audience members to submit questions via email during the forum will also be provided.

There are seven candidates vying for the four vacant seats on the Bernards Township School Board. There are three three-year seats and one unexpired two-year term seat up for grabs.

Candidates for one of the three-year seats are:

  • Robin McKeon – incumbent and current vice-chairman of the board
  • Carl Bird
  • Timothy Salmon – incumbent
  • Herpreet “Guddia” Singh – holder
  • Kirsten Light

Those who run for the unexpired seat include:

  • Ruchika Hira – holder
  • Laurent J. Nastro

The general election will take place on November 2.
