The Ahmedabad Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) held an all-India seminar on “Building Trust: Shaping the Future of Indian Public Relations and Communications” on Saturday at the Management Association of Ahmedabad (AMA) in Ahmedabad. Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, PRSI organized the seminar. Public relations professionals from some 26 PRSI municipal chapters participated in the seminar.

Pradip Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of Gujarat, remained present as the main guest of the seminar. Dr. Annurag Batra, President and Editor, BW Businessworld, New Delhi, chaired the event and Suresh N Iyer, Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Communications for Western Region, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) was the guest of honor.

Alongside the seminar, PRSI also announced the launch of “Nalanda” – PRSI Student Forum. Nalanda will create a platform for PRSI in the direction of industry-academia interface and prepare the next generation of PR and communication professionals in India.

Nalanda – Public Relations Society of India Student Forum will be established by the PRSI chapters of the University Campus and Institute as the Public Relations Society of India Student Forum. These forums will reinforce a specific public relations and communication mindset among students of postgraduate/graduate courses in public relations and corporate communication and create a platform for professional development.

Pradip Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, said during his address, “PRSI just like the government is opening different chapters and working on holistic development of people. I have seen very few organizations that work towards holistic development and truly admire this aspect of PRSI. I congratulate PRSI for launching their new initiative, Nalanda.

During his keynote, Dr. Batra shared his anecdotes about his journey as an entrepreneur. He explained how his business got through the two years of the pandemic – a period of disruption for everyone.

“Every crisis offers an opportunity. Whether you’re in the media or in PR, we all face a deficit of trust, information overload, and the need to be perfect that grows in the age of social media. Being a good communicator requires focus on building good relationships, focusing on accuracy, and always being ready to learn and do the necessary research,” Dr. Batra emphasized. He also congratulated the PRSI for launching its new initiative, Nalanda.

Three institutes in Ahmedabad have exchanged MoUs with the PRSI chapter in Ahmedabad to participate in Nalanda. Dr. Sonal Pandya, Head of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Gujarat, exchanged the MoU with PRSI on behalf of his institute. Similarly, Dr. Hari Desai, Director of Institute of Journalism and Communications and Dr. Shirish Kashikar, Director of National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism also exchanged MoUs with PRSI Ahmedabad.

“At the Public Relations Society of India, we have always believed in nurturing future generations with values ​​and empowering them with knowledge and skills. I am extremely pleased to announce another PRSI initiative for the country’s future public relations/mass communication professionals. PRSI has 25 chapters providing professional support to PR practitioners nationwide and the new initiative is to prepare young people to be effective communicators by establishing academic/institutional chapters for students under the supervision of respective professors/teachers. said Dr. Pathak, speaking of the initiative.

The following day, PRSI members marked the occasion by visiting the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Some 26 representatives from different chapters from all over India remained in attendance.
