NOC Athletes’ Commission Forum held in Abuja

The Athletes’ Commission of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), an affiliate of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will hold its annual seminar from June 20-21, 2022 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Commission chairman Olumide Oyedeji said the seminar is very important as the athletes prepare for the Commonwealth Games in July to be held in Birmingham.

“We gather in Abuja for our annual forum where issues that concern athletes will be discussed and will also share knowledge from the instructors we have invited for the two-day event.”

In a statement signed by NOC Public Relations Officer Phemmy Adetula, athletes must focus on the effective functioning of the National Federation’s Athletes’ Commission, Anti-Doping/WADA – Engaging Athletes in Sport clean, sports injuries, manipulation of competition – safeguarding/prevention. harassment and abuse, sports performance psychology, among other topics.

The President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel, will deliver the keynote address. The welcome address will be delivered by Mr. Sunday Dare, the Honorable Minister for Youth and Sports Development, while the distinguished instructors are as follows; Dr. Mrs. Toyin Aluko, Odion Aikhoje, Pham. Oyerinde, Dr Simon Ebhojaiye, Dr Robinson Okosun, Dr Dayo and Malam Abdulrahman.

The Athletes’ Commission Forum will conclude with the election of new leaders for a new four-year cycle and certificates will be presented to all participants by the NOC President, Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Federal Department of Youth Development and Sports, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar. .
